I guess I’m on a movie kick today because I came across another great YouTube video of Disney animation. Which also makes sense with my Hollywood Studios obsession today as well… but that’s a totally different post. This hour long special actually aired in 2009, right before The Princess and the Frog premiered in theaters. The special, while mostly an advertisement for The Princess and the Frog is actually a very awesome look at the Disney animated features prior to The Princess and the Frog. It features many different stars, with or without ties to the Disney company, but John Lasseter and Dick Van Dyke are in it so that’s reason enough to spend the time watching it.  Read the rest of this entry »

25 Years of Pixar Magic

March 27, 2012

Last year, Pixar Animation Studios turned 25. This post is just a little late, but better now than never! I found a fantastic video made by a Pixar fan for the 25 anniversary. It’s a must see for any Pixar fan.

This week’s quote is from one of my favorite Magic Kingdom attractions, the Jungle Cruise. I know a lot of people who can’t appreciate the Jungle Cruise because of its very dry sense of humor. But that’s what I love about it. It’s just a silly attraction. If you can enjoy it it’s really a lot of fun. It’s still my Disney dream job. But I hope you enjoy this week’s quote and that your week is filled with endless amounts of Disney magic!

The Moment It Hit Me

March 21, 2012

I’ve been a Disney fan for as long as I can remember. I probably watched a Mickey Mouse cartoon when I first came home from the hospital. I spent hours watching Disney Channel and Disney movies. Most of my wardrobe came from the Disney Store and all my dress up clothes and props were Disney. My first vacation to Walt Disney World was when I was just six months old. Since that first vacation, I’ve visited the vacation kingdom of the world 29 times, been to Disneyland once, stayed at Disney Vacation Club’s Vero Beach resort a few times, and embarked on four Disney cruises. Some people call me spoiled, I say blessed. I’m very fortunate to have the ability to let my obsession go wild and to completely immerse myself in all things Disney. But how did it all start? Many people refer to this as their “lightning bolt moment”, the moment it all just hits you can you realize how much you love something. Here’s my lightning bolt story. Read the rest of this entry »

I don’t know if I’ve ever mentioned it, but either way you probably already know about DVC’s newest project. Back in December Disney announced that they would be adding a new section of the Grand Floridian resort for DVC members. The project will create 147 units and will open in late 2013.

Proposed look of the DVC GF.

We’ve talked about cars and bumper stickers, so how about something you use everyday? I always carry a little bit of Disney along with me in my phone.

No Kimmunicators for me, but this is about as Disney as phones get.

A Disney Imagineer said this weeks quote. A plaque dedicated to him and his quote can be found outside of the Mad Tea Party in Fantasyland. I hope you enjoy the quote as much as I do and that your week is full of Disney magic! Read the rest of this entry »

I have a love, hate relationship with Fantasmic!. Just kidding, it’s a love, I-won’t-be-terribly-depressed-if-I-miss-it relationship with Fantasmic!. The not so keen part about Fantasmic! always goes away after seeing it. I have nothing against Fantasmic!, although my butt doesn’t enjoy the metal seats in the Hollywood Hills Amphitheater. I wake up every morning to the beginning music of Fantasmic! when Mickey first appears, so that might have something to do with it. But I really do like Fantasmic! a lot. I was rather upset when it was closed for refurb during my January trip. I know, none of this makes sense. Neither does the rest of my life. But as I sit outside on my deck (because it’s absolutely beautiful out) and overlook the water (I live on a lake by an amusement park. Brownie points to any New Englander who can name what lake I live on. And no, the answer is not Bay Lake) I can’t help but wish that the huge mountain from the Fantasmic! stage is across the lake instead of the nice people who live there. When I travelled to Disneyland, seeing Fantasmic! was not very high on my list of things to do, however, I wasn’t going to fight anyone on it. So who’s version of Fantasmic! dazzled me more? Read on!
